Kaci is a speech-language pathologist and the owner/founder of Socially Sound Therapy Solutions, LLC. She is nationally certified through the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed through the Minnesota Department of Health and Department of Education.
Kaci graduated Magna Cum Laude from Plattsburgh State University in New York with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences and a minor in psychology. As an undergraduate, she was recognized as the Outstanding Student in the Communication Disorders and Sciences Department and was the recipient of university’s Phenomenal Women’s Award. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she obtained a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, a Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard affiliate, and one of the top graduate programs in speech-language pathology according to U.S. News. As a graduate student, Kaci was featured in the MGH Annual Report (2012), Spotlight for Student Excellence, in an article titled, “A Leader on the National Stage” for her leadership role on the Executive Council of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.
Additionally, Kaci has held affiliations and leadership positions for a number of professional state and national councils and associations. She is currently an active member of the Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) serving as the Membership Committee, Chair as well as the Advisor of the Future Professionals Committee, a new MSHA committee she founded for students in speech and hearing programs to develop leadership skills and provide a student voice for advocacy within the profession in our state. Kaci has been published in The ASHA Leader (2013) and was an invited leadership panel speaker at the New York State Speech-Language Hearing Convention.
Kaci has experience in a variety of settings and with a range of populations across the lifespan from toddlers through geriatrics. She has worked in settings including outpatient hospitals and clinics, private practices, public and private elementary and middle schools, early childhood education or preschool programs, adult day habilitation centers, in home health care, and as a literacy educator abroad. Kaci is fully trained in the nationally renowned, research-based literacy program, Reading with TLC (Lively Letters and Sight Words You Can See). She is also trained in therapeutic Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation for the treatment of dysphagia (swallow difficulty). She has a special interest and knowledge in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and assistive technology, and language-based learning disabilities.
